2017 Germany Follow-up Gospel Trips

NOTE: The following is an update on the situation in Germany. Please continue to check this website for updates and changes as the nature of the work in Germany is constantly changing and the needs are also changing.

THE GOSPEL ON THE CAMPUSES

We are entering into another phase in our work in Germany. Beginning in 2017, there will be an adjustment to the way we are focusing our labour. In addition to the care and perfecting of the refugees, we are also beginning a very aggressive gospel work on the university campuses across Germany. Beginning in the four major localities we will be labouring on the university campuses to gain the typical German young people into the church life. While so much effort has gone into gaining the new ones who have emigrated from the Middle East, we do not want to forget about the young Germans who also need the gospel.

Starting in February, we propose that at any given time there would be five campus workers in each of the four cities who can remain a minimum of one month to continue the work of the FTTA trainees and to help raise up a model of gaining remaining fruit from the campus. We need full-timers who are trained, have the experience needed, and are already fruitful on the campuses where they now serve. Saints in this category who can already speak some German would be especially valuable. This work should begin in February and continue into July. To support this focus we also urgently need to acquire apartments near these campuses.

We are planning six Campus Gospel Trips beginning January 28 and concluding on July 22, 2017. These trips will be for a five-week period, with a definite beginning and definite conclusion. See below for the start and end dates of each trip.

PERFECTING THE NEW ONES (REFUGEES)

The Gospel and Shepherding Trips that have taken place in 2016 have given every locality more new ones than we can adequately care for. In the four major cities there are countless, active, newly saved and baptized ones, who are meeting together with us and need further care.  We do not know what the Sovereign God has planned concerning these refugees, but we know that our time with them may be quite limited. Some of them will be sent back to their country of origin and will not be able to remain in Germany long-term. Others will be granted asylum and will be given the opportunity to remain in Germany. But of these, most will be sent out of the major population centers into more of the smaller towns and villages in Germany as the government is trying to assimilate them into German life and culture.

We sense that our time with them is limited and the need is urgent that we would perfect these new ones in the practice of the church life in the God-ordained way. Wherever the Sower of the good seed happens to scatter them, they will then be perfected to carry on the work of the Lord’s recovery and the building up of the church in their place. Many of our newly saved and baptized Farsi-speaking Iranian refugees are now finally getting their interviews for immigration. There are reports that many of them will have their applications rejected. The political atmosphere over the entire western world is against unfettered immigration, especially from the Middle East. So there has been a tightening of the process to reduce the number being assimilated into German society.

Matthew 24:14 tells us “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole inhabited earth for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.” It may be the wisdom of God to bring so many out of their nations to Germany so they can be saved and perfected in the church life and then sent back to their country to spread the gospel of the kingdom in their homeland. For this they need to be perfected.

In order to carry out this particular work of perfecting these new ones, we need teams of trained and burdened saints to come for another series of “Perfecting Trips.” This is a very particular work, carried out not through big meetings but through personal, one-on-one perfecting contact. We propose that at any given time there would be ten participants in each of the four cities who can remain a minimum of one month to carry out this one-on-one perfecting. This particular work will require saints who are trained (FTT or FTT-MA), who actually have the skill of perfecting others; screened (or drafted) through a serious vetting process.  Saints in this category who can already speak some German would be especially valuable. We are planning six Perfecting Trips beginning January 28 and concluding on July 22, 2017. These trips will be for a five-week period, with a definite beginning and definite conclusion. Do not apply unless you can remain for the entire five-week schedule. (However, some may be approved on an exception basis if they are unable to remain for the entire trip.) See below for the start and end dates of each trip.

ESTIMATED COST: LODGING, MEALS AND TRANSPORTATION

Accommodation will probably be in rented apartments with a capacity of 4 to 6 saints per apartment. Estimated cost is 800€ per person per month. We will group you with other team members so that you can locate your place to stay and cover the cost together.

You will be responsible for your own meals in Germany. Because you will most likely be staying in furnished apartments, you can limit meal costs by preparing most meals at home. On average, you should budget 15€ per day, or 450€ per month.

Means of transportation may include rental cars and public transportation. The estimated cost for transportation is 300€ per month. Because of the nature of the perfecting work, rented cars will be the primary means of transportation. The work on the campuses will also need rented cars, although public transportation could work. Most rented cars in Germany come with a manual transmission (stick shift).

There may be miscellaneous costs related to these trips such as meeting room rentals, translator fees, and transportation outside of your assigned city. Please remember that these costs are estimates and will change as details are finalized.

Every application will need to have an elder’s recommendation to be also sent in to accompany the application. The recommendation should confirm that you are capable in the English, German, or Farsi language, that you are in good health, and that you are able to coordinate with other saints. No one will be accepted without a written elder’s recommendation. Please do not make any travel arrangements until you have been accepted and have received a confirmation email from us verifying your participation and assigned locality.
