The 2014 East College Training theme was The Humanity of Jesus. The training consisted of full days with lots of Bible, ministry and time with The Lord individually with small groups and companions. The ministry portion of the training consisted of three morning lines and the main evening line on the humanity of Jesus. For the morning we started with A Daily Time With the Lord. The sharing was very practical in terms of providing handles for us to get ahold of in our personal times with the Lord. Everyone was encouraged by the week of practice and hearing of other’s struggles in having that time and how the Lord led them to overcome.
The second morning line covered The Cycle of Our Spiritual Life. Mainly taken from 1 John we saw the four critical elements of the cycle: the eternal life, the fellowship of life, the divine light and the blood of Jesus the Son of God. As a concluding word we were impressed that it is by the anointing that God adds Himself to us in this cycle.
The last morning line was on Preaching the Gospel. On Tuesday there was some fellowship from various saints related to their experience and learning in the gospel. In addition the trainees all practiced meeting and speaking to fellow trainees as though they were on the gospel. It was a beautiful scene to see everyone speaking the gospel one to another. On Wednesday we went out in 2-3’s to preach the gospel on campus. There were many positive contacts made and several prayed with us to receive the Lord. Some of these have been connected to the local saints for follow up. It seemed that everyone’s experience was positive.
In the evening we covered The Humanity of Jesus. Taking the meal offering from the Old Testament as the type of the Lord’s humanity for us to eat we were impressed with the four elements in the meal offering for our experience: fine flour, oil, salt and frankincense. We were also impressed with the Lord’s fine, balanced and tender humanity seen in the four gospels. The humanity of Jesus is so practical for us to experience and enjoy in our serving the Lord as priests and in the spiritual warfare.
The atmosphere of the training from the first day was high and strong. In addition to the months of prayer beforehand, a big help was the exercise of singing outside of the meeting times. During the breaks, before the meetings and during the meals the students and serving ones were writing and singing songs. The singing sanctified the atmosphere and made it very easy to step into the meetings.
We all went forth from the training encouraged to go on with the Lord in establishing a solid morning time with Him, reading our Bibles daily, and spending time with our companions for mutual encouragement and fruit bearing in the gospel on our campuses. Many are continuing to contact each other and pray for each other as we have returned to our places to put these things into practice.
