Stirred in Spirit, Paying the Price to Spread the Gospel Worldwide
I praise the Lord for giving me the opportunity to participate in this Chinese-speaking conference. Six years ago, I attended as a child and didn’t have a deep understanding of the messages. But this year, I was able to use my spirit and mind to grasp the word of God, participate in all the meetings, and sing and break bread with over 36,000 saints. What an honor!
I treasure the message that a proper Christian life is three-fold: to fight the good fight, run the race, and keep the faith. There is no good war in the world, but Paul calls it a good fight here because it is for the eternal purpose of God. We all need to stay in the center of God’s economy through the fight and win Christ.
After the two-day conference, we took a seven-hour drive back to Kaohsiung, ate dinner in 10 minutes, and then started hosting. Although I was tired, I was filled with joy when I saw the overseas saints arrive! Our family hosted two sisters from Malaysia, and during the blending, we also met a sister from Ghana named Connie. She shared with me that before coming to Taiwan, she went through many difficulties from September last year and only got her visa a week before the conference. She bought a plane ticket at a high price to come here. She heard that Taiwan was very cold, but she didn’t have any winter clothes. She asked her family in the United States to help her buy a coat and shoes and pass them on to the saints in the United States, who then passed them on to her at the airport… Through this process, I realized that every brother and sister really paid a great price to come here. The sister also encouraged me to learn the language well so that I can be used by God in the future. She is already very fluent in English, but she is still learning English sign language so that the word of God can be supplied to more saints. Praise the Lord, their absolute spirit towards the Lord touched me deeply. They are so passionate about the Lord, and I am deeply inspired. May we all fight the good fight together and run the heavenly race. (Qianzhen District, Huang Aiyuan)
Thank the Lord for allowing us to participate in this conference and hosting. In the weeks leading up to the hosting, we started preparing, mopping the floor, changing the sheets, cleaning up, and even giving up our bedroom to them while we slept on the floor.
Although we had to get up early every day, walk all day, and have meetings at night, we were filled with joy in our hearts! I saw many high school students and peers studying hard during the New Year to prepare for the exams. In fact, I was also nervous and worried, but when I thought about how these brothers and sisters came at a price, I felt that I needed to accompany them, and I could just read the books later.
Thank the Lord for letting me experience the reality of the Body of Christ, which has broadened my horizons. I hope I will have the opportunity to host again next time. Amen. (Qianzhen District, Huang Aiyang)
After being hosted for the first time at a conference in the United States in 2001, our family’s door to hosting was opened. Whenever there is an opportunity to host, our family will seize the grace given by the Lord and put all our efforts into it. Our children have grown up under the influence of this, and they are also used to it. Of course, this time was no exception. At first, when we learned that we were going to host a brother from Ghana, we started the preparation mode for hosting. Until the day before, we learned that their visas had not been approved and they could not come. Our excited hearts turned to disappointment. We could only learn to return to the spirit and pray to the Lord for an opportunity to host. Thank the Lord! The Lord has given us another brother from Ghana.
Due to the Lunar New Year and the need to host immediately after attending the conference, there were many difficulties in the preparation. We felt the mutual support of the saints in the小区, who supplemented our shortcomings in the supply of daily necessities and food. In the difficulty of language communication, there were two Malaysian sisters who could speak English. They were hosted upstairs at the home of the co-worker’s wife. We agreed to have breakfast together and share the church life of each place. It was so joyful and satisfying!
This time, the brothers carefully planned many outdoor activities and fellowship meetings in the meeting hall. We also prepared many Taiwanese delicacies to share with the saints. Our college-aged children were also able to accompany us and participate in various activities. The saints had different needs, and the children were able to do their part, which was a sweet coordination and service.
On the last night, when I heard the Ghanaian brother mention that he wanted to learn about the local children’s work from the Taipei saints, I felt a heavy burden in my spirit. During the four days and three nights of hosting, there were many eating, drinking, and playing activities. Every night, we were too tired to bear the burden, and we also seemed to have missed the deeper fellowship of the church life. I asked the Malaysian sister to help with the translation, hoping to share the grace of the children’s work in Kaohsiung City with them during breakfast on the last day. The Ghanaian brother was overjoyed and even took out his cell phone to record, for fear of missing out on many precious contents. Thank the Lord! The overseas saints came to Taiwan to participate in the conference at a price. In addition to the external enjoyment, they also need to supply each other more with the inner Christ and the richness of the Body. May the Lord bless the actions and development of His church in all places, so that it can reproduce and increase, and the glory of Christ can be manifested more and more.
