In Memory Of Dan George Leslie

Dan George Leslie

SEPTEMBER 20, 1946 – NOVEMBER 7, 2023

Daniel (Dan) George Leslie

On the morning of November 7, 2023, Dan went to be with the Lord, whom he loved and served. He passed away peacefully in his sleep, in his home in Buena Park, California, at the age of 77.

Dan was born on September 20, 1946, in Seattle, Washington. He was the second of five children, and the first son of Genevieve and George Leslie.

A month before Dan’s ninth birthday, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. This was such a significant, life-changing event that shaped and directed his path throughout the rest of his life.

Dan graduated from Auburn High School in 1965. He actively participated in school clubs, student body government and was honored to be selected to Boys State. Following high school, he attended Seattle Pacific College. Dan enjoyed skiing and worked as a ski instructor as a young adult. His diverse career path eventually settled into procurement, where he handled purchasing for government contracts in the aerospace industry.

Dan loved music his whole life. As a young man he participated in a youth choir that sang Christian songs which was invited to perform at the Seattle Center. His immediate family was there to enjoy that special event. Dan could often be found with others around a piano singing bass harmony to his favorite hymns or playing his trumpet. He was with Campus Crusade for Christ in college and began to direct the singing in the youth meetings. This was a gift the Lord gave him and he enjoyed it so much. A favorite pastime, he was still able to sing with his family until the end.

Dan was fun loving, playful and loved to tease his family. He loved meeting new people, was a good listener, and with his friendly, caring nature, was well-loved and appreciated by all who knew him.

In 1970, Dan consecrated himself to the Lord, vowing to follow Him for his whole life. In 1971, he met his wife, Dorothy, in the church in Seattle; they were married on September 5, 1971, in Seattle, Washington. They began their life together in Portland, Oregon, before moving to Anaheim, California. Both Dan and Dorothy had the same thoughts, goals and hopes for their future and were blessed with three children, Leanna, Stephen and Deborah, whom he dearly loved. Dan and Dorothy shared 52 wonderful years together, loving the Lord and serving Him.

In 1986, Dan began serving the Lord full-time, which led him abroad to Taipei, Taiwan. In 1987, after careful consideration and prayer, his family joined him there. Upon returning to the US later that year, Dan went back to full-time employment until 1990, when he again began to serve the Lord full-time. In 1998, he and Dorothy were given the highest privilege of being asked to go to Moscow, Russia, to serve with young Christian men and women who gave themselves to attend a two year Bible truth and church service training in Moscow. He and Dorothy served there, joyfully, for 15 years, returning to the US in 2013.

Dan continued serving the Lord full-time after returning to the states up until he began to grow ill in October of 2022. This last year of Dan’s life was a very difficult transition, watching him change from being talkative and vibrant to becoming so physically weak and quiet. He became bed-ridden in March of 2023, and in April he was brought home from the hospital on hospice care, where he lived out the remainder of his days.

Dan’s passing was preceded by his younger brothers, Tim and David. He will be dearly remembered and deeply missed by his wife, Dorothy, his daughter Leanna and her husband, Yamil, his son Stephen and his wife, Tiffany, along with their four children—Isaac, Aliya, Halle, and Riley, and his daughter Deborah and her husband, Dmitry, and their two children, Evelina and Misha. Dan will also be dearly remembered by his sister, Pam, and her husband Mike, his younger brother Mike and his wife Margie, and his sister-in-law, Kristin. The sorrow of his passing is shared by all of Dan’s nieces and nephews, extended family, and the dear brothers and sisters in the Lord who loved him so much.

A family-only graveside memorial service will be held at Rose Hills Mortuary in Whittier, California, on Monday, November 20, 2023. Details for a public memorial service will be announced at a later date.

“Precious in the sight of Jehovah is the death of His faithful ones.” Psalm 116:15

Dan will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601; Field of Sanctification; Gate: 1, Section: 1, Lot: 1406, Grave: 2.
