Church Life in Islamabad 在伊斯兰堡的召会生活

Dear Saints,

“Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the full knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” 2 Peter 1:2.

News Highlights:

  • Five (5) brothers from Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad attended the recent LMA conference in Yongin, South Korea held on October 24-26. Raj was one of them.
  • The National Blending Conference was held here in Islamabad on Nov 11 & 12. The subject of the conference was “Life and the Church.” Bro Lin Hong and his wife, Sister Leanne from Taiwan were our special guests. All the Chinese-speaking couples serving in Pakistan, together with some local saints from their respective localities, came. There were around 155 saints excluding some 25 children who were 5 years and older that came on Saturday, and  around 160 saints with children on the Lord’s Day. There were some more saints who wanted to come but the number of allocated seats have maximized.

  • Bro Lin Hong’s  and Sister Leanne’s first destination was Karachi where they spent one day visiting saints in their homes, then followed by another day’s visit in Lahore.  On their 3rd day they came to Islamabad where they also visited 4 homes.

  • Praise the Lord for an answered prayer concerning them!  Their flight from Lahore to Islamabad did not get cancelled. Otherwise, most of the flights at that particular time in the morning during that week were all cancelled because of a very thick smog. However, 3 days prior to their arrival in Islamabad, some Islamic clerics had started staging a protest, and they blockaded all the major highways leading to Islamabad. (It is still going on up till now!) They are demanding the resignation of one of the ministers who praised the minorities specifically the Christians and Ahmedis (from another sect of Islam). A trip back to Islamabad from the airport usually takes around 30-40 min, but due to this protest it now takes at least 1 1/2 hours! The saints from the 2nd district have been affected by this as well. The Pakistani government is taking a very cautious step in tackling this problem because it is a sensitive issue here. But we know that the Lord Jesus is our sovereign Lord , and He is in control of this situation.
  • All the Chinese-speaking couples serving in Pakistan stayed for another 4 more days after the conference to corporately enjoy the messages in the most recent ITERO and LMA conferences. We had 2 of the couples stay with us for hospitality.
  • Thank you all for your prayers! The Islamabad and Rawalpindi Chinese-speaking saints have already set up a bottled water business. They are just waiting for the approval of their license to operate.
  • Children’s meetings are being held in different homes in 3 different communities.

  • The first one-day training in the new Christian community that has the most literate residents was attended by around 100 saints at a denominational church meeting hall. The messages were on the Two Trees. The second one was attended by around 45 saints.

Many saints in this community welcome the gospel we proclaim but many of them have a problem on why we don’t pray the Lord’s Prayer when we pray with them. We need to ask for the Lord’s wisdom regarding this matter… Nonetheless, there are some saints the Lord is raising up that a third district might be established soon. Praise the Lord!

  • In Rawalpindi, the twin city of Islamabad, another district will soon get established there. Hallelujah!!!

PRAYER BURDENS

Please pray:

  • For the saints’ safety
  • For the immediate approval of the Saints’ license to operate their bottled water business.
  • That the Lord will put an end to this protest that is going on.
  • That the Lord will continue to raise up more saints who will be burdened to establish another district in Islamabad as well as in Rawalpindi.
  • That the saints will be continually strengthened to go on with their church life especially the couple whose house we’re having the Lord’s Table Meeting in district 1.
  • That the Lord will call more sisters who will get involved in the children’s meetings in the different communities.

“To Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all the generations forever and ever. Amen!”

In Him,

Raj and Meldy
