Report from a brother:
Besides outward difficulties we have to say we had an excellent time and felt privileged to meet with the refugees. We didn’t feel we did that much and often were in situations we could not say too much regarding the Lord, but just being there gave the opportunity for Jesus to be expressed to them in our human contact. In our second week we stayed in a house close by the city. This enabled us to invite local saints and refugees to our ‘home’. Among them we had a refugee brother, a very positive contact, for dinner, just to be with us in the home, with our family, and practice pray-reading the word in his own language. He returned another day with friends of his, a young believing family we had met with at his camp. They, with their two sons, one the same age as my toddler, were one of many families in a large corporate space with fabric partitioned square rooms. Their small space had two bunk beds a child cot and a cupboard arranged in a tight square. They had so little, and yet after we visited them, they gave us a gift of food and gifted our son one of their boys few toys. Despite all our resistance they were full of appreciation for our visiting them and determined to give something to us despite their lack. Even, whilst we invited them for lunch with us, they wanted to cook for us instead.
A second refugee family we had to eat with us on two occasions. They and their daughters had fled their country at a moments notice, with fear for their lives. They found that relatives and others knew that they had converted and they were being reported to the authorities. It was such a wonderful privilege to be with these ones and to touch, even in a small way, what the Lord is doing at this time. May the Lord gain many of these ones fully for his purpose.
