Bible Distribution in the Netherlands

Bible Distribution in the Netherlands

Two weeks ago we had a corporate blending meeting in Leiden with all the saints in the Netherlands, including the young people from the Netherlands and Belgium who had just returned that morning from the Poland young people’s conference. The overflow from the young people in singing and sharing was very encouraging. Many testified how we need to speak what we have seen of God’s economy in order for the vision to eventually be realized. One young brother, full of smiles, shared how he was baptized at the conference, and another shared how they had led the Polish-speaking bus driver to call on the Lord with them. The parents who attended had their own conference and had much to overflow. A real vision was imparted into them concerning raising up the next generation. This last week the universities in the Netherlands began their introduction days (akin to Freshers’ Fayres in England). On Wednesday we joined about 12 others, half being students from various campuses, at the Utrecht University to distribute Bibles for about five hours. The Lord covered the weather and provided an excellent location for the table, where almost a constant flow of students came to receive a free study Bible (in English, with the Rhema set one book in Dutch). In total we handed out 91 Bibles. 35 requested further contact, and at least three received the Lord. After the distribution on the campus we had a welcome dinner. A young sister was there who is a new contact with a very soft, open, and seeking heart. We gave her a ride home at the end of the night, and although she received a free study Bible in English, she is not very comfortable with speaking or reading English. This strengthened even more our burden for the translation work of the Bible and ministry into the Dutch language. The next cities with an introduction day will be Delft, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam. Please join us to pray:

  • For the follow-up with the 35 who attend Utrecht University, that they would remain open, especially since there is almost three weeks between their receiving the Bible and the time that they will start school on September 1. We are praying that there will be at least five remaining fruit from this group.

For the introduction days in Delft (August 17) and in Rotterdam and Amsterdam (August 19), pray:

  • That the Lord will go before us and will prepare the hearts of the seeking ones as the good earth to sow the seed of the kingdom of God richly and abundantly.
  • That the Lord will sovereignly arrange contact with many seeking ones and will gain them as remaining fruit.
  • That the Lord will bind the strong man completely and will plunder his house to the uttermost (Matt. 12:29) and put him to open shame.
  • That the Lord will bring our contacts to our open homes from the beginning to cherish and to nourish them.
  • That the team of students and saints who participate in the distribution will be filled with the Spirit inwardly (essentially) and outwardly (economically) to speak the gospel with all boldness.
