The course week begins on Wednesday (Day 1) and ends on the following Tuesday (Day 7). No work is required or expected on the Lord’s Day, but you may submit work if you choose. Each week the course has resources to study and activities to complete which form the base for the week’s content. Typically, each week learners are expected to complete the following activities:
- Lesson—Based on the resources to study for the week, and to be completed in the first few days of the course week.
- Written Fellowship—Written participation is 31% of the total grade. Learners are expected to participate on at least four days out of each six-day course week by posting substantive responses to Fellowship Questions (FQs) in the Written Fellowship forum. FQ responses must be at least 100 words and at least one response must be posted within the first two days of each course week.
- Weekly Crystallization Statement (CS)—Each week learners will create a brief statement that summarizes the week’s learning and highlights the main burden for the week. This statement must be at least 250 words and not more than 500 words and must be posted by Day Seven. CSs constitute 35% of the total grade.
- Oral Prophecy (OP)—Using their VoiceThread account, each week learners will prepare and record an Oral Prophecy to be uploaded as an audio file by the end of Day Seven. It must be at least three minutes long and cannot exceed five minutes. It should relate to the main burden in the material for the week and should be based on the CS for that week. OPs constitute 10% of the total grade.
- Weekly Quiz—Each week there is a quiz on the material covered that week. Quizzes constitute 24% of the total grade.
In addition to the required activities above, there are also supplemental resource materials (ministry readings, class videos).
Since movement through online material is slower, more thorough, and more interactive, generally a one-term FTTA course translates into two, eight-week online courses. For each eight-week course, you are required to spend a minimum of one hour per day, six days per week interacting with the material; however, to fully enter into the material and the supplemental resources and to produce substantive responses to the fellowship questions, you should expect to spend more than the minimum number of hours each week.
