In the spring of 1971, a small group of Christians living in Dallas were reading the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee and came to understand through that ministry the Lord desire expressed in His Word that Christians should meet as the church in the city in which they reside. Based on this light, this small group of brothers and sisters in Christ contacted friends they knew in Houston who were meeting as the church in that city and went to visit them. After a period of fellowship with the church in Houston, the Lord stirred some in Houston to go and assist these in Dallas to meet as the church in Dallas. Beginning in June of 1971, seven brothers and sisters moved from Houston to Dallas to begin meeting with those who were seeking to go on in this way. By the end of October, the number had increased to thirty-seven. Many of those meeting had moved from Houston but were originally from the Dallas area, so to them it was a returning home to care for the Lord burden in His Word. In January of 1972, the church purchased a parcel of land on Gus Thomason Road in Dallas and met there for many years. During the next several years, the church enjoyed a significant increase through gospel preaching, the ministry of the Word, and the shepherding care given to one another in the Lord. During that period, a number were stirred by the Lord to migrate to other cities in the region. Thus the church was able to afford a way to help others to begin meeting just as they had begun in Arlington, Denton, Fort Worth, Irving, Plano, and Richardson, as well as strengthening small meetings in other cities both in the United States and abroad. In 1999, the church secured another parcel of land near the intersection of IH 635 LBJ Freeway and Coit Road. This move from Gus Thomason afforded a way for all those meeting to have greater access to the meeting facility from wherever they lived. Thus by meeting the demographic needs of the brothers and sisters in Christ meeting with the church, the church has afforded the Lord a way for increase both in fellowship and in numbers.
