Church in Plano – Brief History

Just as the Lord Jesus said in John 4:36-37, “He who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit unto eternal life, in order that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true, One sows and another reaps.” In the early 1970s, a brother who had a consistent burden in preaching the gospel was working in the University of Plano in 1970s. And the current meeting hall was later built on the previous campus site. In 1971, a group of Christians moved from Houston to Dallas area to bear the testimony of Jesus Christ. According to the pure revelation and the examples of practices of the early churches in the New Testament, they “continued steadfastly in the teaching and the fellowship of the apostles, in the breaking of bread and the prayers.” (Acts 2:42) Saints in the Dallas metropolitan area were meeting in the Dallas meeting hall and saints’ houses. God’s words were spreading and not only reaching to English-speaking residents, but also received by those immigrants and foreign students. Praise the Lord, He is rich to all who call upon Him (Rom. 10:12), and nothing, even different races or languages, can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom. 8:39). Saints living in Plano and in Richardson started meeting together and established the Church in Plano and the Church in Richardson in 1992 and 1993, respectively. The number of believers has multiplied to three-fold since then. There are more than 20 home meeting and campus meeting places in the Plano and Richardson area. The Church in Plano has been meeting in the current meeting hall located on Custer Road in Plano since March of 1998. As part of the Body of Christ, the Church in Plano continues her fellowships with saints in other localities.

We are sincerely looking for fellowship with all believers in Christ. We receive everyone who is received by God. We, as the Body of Christ, desire to serve God and express Him according to His pleasure and the teachings in the Bible. With a warm welcome, we’d like to invite all those pure-hearted pursuers of the Lord to join us in testifying that the Church is the new man, where there can be no differences by race, culture, or social status, but Christ is all and in all (Col. 3:11)
