So surprisingly and so encouraging to see the lords move in this campus in
Cheney, now part of the church life in Spokane nearby. Among this campus with
12,000 students through the labor in the last 4 years the Lord gained some solid
new ones to the church life. Last semester, they have 40-45 in their weekly Friday
night meetings. Last winter retreat 55 attended, 12 serving ones, 21 church kids,
22 new ones, mostly Caucasian students. Now they have two brothers house
about 10 brothers, one sister house, 6 sisters.
1. The whole church of Spokane pray for them and support them even twice a
week to bring food to the campus for their students.
2. Serving ones perfect the students, provide chance for student to function, quite
a “student-run campus ministry”.
3. Two brothers work as faculty play an instrumental role to attract students to
the church life and Lord’s day morning they can meet on the campus.
4. Some families who migrate there from Spokane open their home for the
campus students.
5. We ask their students, since we are one of the eight Christian campus ministry
in their campus what is our strength to attract students? They respond, first that
here we have a family atmosphere, which is different from others, they are just a one time a week setting with band and drum set..
Second, we have truths especially
these truths save us from superficiality and ushers us into deeper relationship
with God, especially the truth of the “human spirit”. Third, so long as one student
was with us about three months. They will be transformed to be vital, living and
joyful; spontaneously their peers got attracted, even their parents.
This year as sister graduated from FTTA, will get started to serve full time in this
campus.
here is a picture from last spring of four young brothers sharing on the Lords Day morning meeting in Cheney. one brother grew up in the church the other three are new ones.
Our format for Lords day is to sing, have one brother give a few minute opening word, break into groups get into the writings in the booklet. Then we come back together and have sharing from the material we just got into.
Our goal is to get the riches into these young people then to get their mouths open to speak to each other and to all. By God’s mercy may they touch their spirit in these riches!
Another brother is behind these four and he is one that likes to draw pictures on the board of what he has enjoyed.
